“Damm remains Damm”
An interview with Edwin van Overbeeke, Damm Deurentechniek
Damm Deurentechniek has built a strong reputation in the Dutch market over many years. How would you describe the company’s story?
Damm Deurentechniek is first and foremost a story about people. We are a close-knit team of motivated professionals who have been working together for many years. That continuity has created a strong collective knowledge base and a level of expertise that truly sets us apart.
From this solid foundation, we have consistently been able to deliver the right solutions for our customers, tailored to their specific needs. Damm’s story is about craftsmanship, commitment and long-term relationships built on trust.
What differentiates Damm in the Dutch industrial access market?
We are known for our technical expertise and reliable services, but our real differentiation also lies in our culture. We work in an approachable way, think proactively alongside our customers and remain flexible in how we respond to their challenges.
Because we have deep product knowledge within our team, we can act quickly and offer customized solutions, even in complex environments. This combination of technical competence and genuine customer orientation is what makes Damm unique in the Dutch market.
Damm recently joined EMI Group. What motivated this step?
We felt that this was the right moment for the organization to take the next step. The market is changing rapidly, with increasing consolidation and the emergence of larger players. Scale brings clear advantages, such as stronger purchasing power and broader national coverage.
By becoming part of EMI Group, we can benefit from these advantages while further strengthening our position in the Netherlands. At the same time, we remain true to who we are as a company.
How do you see Damm’s future within EMI Group?
Within the Group, there are exciting opportunities to build a strong and integrated organization together with other Dutch companies. By connecting local players, we can benefit from knowledge sharing, operational efficiencies and a wider market reach.
For our team, this creates new opportunities for professional growth. For our customers, it means access to an even more comprehensive portfolio of solutions. And for the Dutch market, it results in a stronger, better-organized partner for the long term.
What does this partnership mean in practical terms for customers and partners?
The message is very clear: Damm remains Damm. The same people, the same mindset and the same quality our customers and partners have trusted for many years.
The difference is that we are now part of a larger European group, which allows us to support our customers even better, today and in the future, across the Netherlands.
Damm has shown solid growth in recent years. How does that reflect in your operations?
In 2024, we achieved a turnover of approximately €7.4 million, with expectations to reach around €8.0 million in 2025. Each year, we manage roughly 550 new installation projects, representing more than 1,000 overhead door installations, in addition to several hundred other industrial access solutions.
Our activities are primarily focused on Flevoland, Friesland, Groningen, Overijssel and Gelderland, where we continue to build long-term relationships with industrial clients.
On a personal level, what keeps you motivated and what are you most proud of?
What motivates me every day is the large number of loyal customers we have built over the years and the distinctive projects we deliver together. We grow alongside our customers and often provide customized solutions. We don’t say “no” too easily, which keeps our work both challenging and dynamic.
What I am most proud of, however, is our people. Every single person at Damm, from the office to the technicians in the field, plays an essential role in our success. That level of involvement and team spirit is truly the core of who we are.
