Technical roles gaining ground in a service-driven market
In an interview with Ziarul Financiar, Jerome France, CEO and founder of EMI Group, discusses the growing relevance of technical roles in Romania, particularly in industries where service and maintenance are critical to daily operations.
As industrial and commercial environments become more dependent on reliable access systems, technicians play a key role in ensuring continuity. Their work, often carried out directly on-site, requires both technical expertise and the ability to respond quickly to operational needs.
In this context, compensation for such roles has become increasingly competitive at a local level. According to Jerome France, a door technician in Romania can earn between €1,000 and €1,500 per month, with total income reaching up to €2,000 when bonuses are included. However, the gap compared to Western Europe remains significant, with similar roles in countries like Belgium reaching €3,000 to €3,500.
At the same time, the difference becomes less pronounced for more specialized technical roles. In fields requiring higher qualifications, such as engineering, Romania is increasingly competitive, supported by strong technical skills, adaptability, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
In a sector where service quality depends directly on people in the field, attracting and developing technical talent remains one of the key challenges for continued growth.
