Modernization of the underground automated parking
The underground parking with over 400 spaces at Cluj’s largest event venue has undergone a technological upgrade to provide a smoother, more enjoyable experience for users, and to optimize management for those responsible for it.
Opened in 2015, with a capacity of 10,000 seats, BT Arena or Sala Polivalentă in Cluj hosts numerous events annually, ranging from concerts and dance shows to basketball games and tennis tournaments.
Located in the heart of Cluj, Sala Polivalentă offers a generous parking space that is used by spectators and participants during events, and at other times can be a convenient parking option in the city center.
This parking lot, equipped from the start by KADRA teams with an automatic parking management system, Parkomatic, recently underwent a modernization and technological upgrade due to the heavy traffic and frequent use over the years.
The parking has two entrances equipped with fast automatic barriers with full straight arms and two exits equipped with automatic barriers with articulated straight arms. Payment can be made at the four automatic payment stations, which accept cash and give change, as well as card payments.
A new feature is the addition of two double 2x22kw stations for charging electric vehicles. The technology upgrade now allows parking payment and electric vehicle charging payment to be integrated, appearing on the same unique ticket that allows exit from the parking lot at the end.
The parking is also equipped with an LPR camera system and a display showing the number of available spaces, integrated into the software and connected to the municipality’s parking app, available to drivers in Cluj.
With all these features, most of which are represented by new state-of-the-art equipment, BT Arena is truly up to date with technology in automatic parking management.
“We have inaugurated the new ultra-modern parking system at Cluj Arena. This will benefit both spectators attending sporting, cultural, and musical events held at the stadium or the nearby polyfunctional hall, as well as those who come to the city center and want to park their car in a safe, convenient location close to their area of interest,” said Alin Tișe, president of the Cluj County Council, to the local press.
